On Sunday, January 29th starting at 10:45am, we'll be featuring traditional firecrackers at the pagoda and followed by two different dragon & lion dance team troupes.  Festivities are expected to last until about 5pm at the various retail stores.

Dragon and Lion Dance Performance

Texas Dragon/Lion Dance Team (TDDT) is Austin’s most active lion dance group with many performances year round. They are also celebrating their 10th anniversary this year! Sharing the stage with them is Summitt Dragon Dance. Both teams perform for a wide variety of venues, including elementary schools, cultural events, restaurants, and even weddings. TDDT is managed by Nhan Nguyen. Summitt Dragon Dance is managed by Thuan Tang, Quoc Hoang, and Robert Pham.
Fountain of Praise Musical Performance

Fountain of Praise is a contemporary Cantonese worship band from Austin Chinese Church that performs inspirational music, sharing the message of hope and peace.
Hawaiian Kona Island Dance Performance

Hawaiian Kona Isle is the longest established Polynesian dance troupe in the Austin area. They specialize in the cultures of Hawaii, Samoa, Tahiti and Maori and will perform a repertoire of dances local to those areas.
Gu Zheng Traditional Performance

Gu Zheng is a traditional Chinese musical instrument. Susan Liu, one of the most well-known Chinese musicians in Austin, together with her students, will perform her compositions during Chinese New Year.
The Love of China School of Dance

The Love of China School of Dance is located in northwest Austin, gives young people the rare opportunity of learning traditional Chinese dances, with students of ages spanning from four to eighteen.
Fashion Show

New this year, traditional attire from various Asian countries will be featured in a live fashion show.
Austin Taiko

A combination of art and sport from Japan, Austin Taiko has been performing in Austin since 1996 and hopes to share taiko with Central Texans whenever possible. Taiko, Japanese for “great drum”, is a synchronized percussion performance and the first native Japanese music to spread throughout the world.

Texas Dragon/Lion Dance Team (TDDT) is Austin’s most active lion dance group with many performances year round. Sharing the stage with them is Summitt Dragon Dance. The second performance of the weekend includes firecrackers and opportunities to feed the lions money as they approach. It’s good luck in Chinese culture to feed the dragons money to give you good fortune to earn more money in the new year.
Divine Land Marching Band

The Texas Divine Land Band, or Texas Tianguo Band as said in the Mandarin language, is a marching band consisting of Falun Dafa practitioners. Started in March of 2007, almost 80% of band members had very little music experience. Each member disciplined themselves to learn reading music, play their instrument, and memorize up to 3 songs within a 4 month period. The Texas Tianguo Band has attended many parades and events, including San Antonio’s Fiesta Flambeau parade, and won awards in the July 4th Parade in Arlington, TX and MLK Parade in Houston, TX as the best Marching Unit.
Falun Dafa

Also called Falun Gong, is a traditional cultivation practice guided by the characteristics of the universe – Truthfullness, Benevolance and Forbearance. Today, Falun Dafa is practiced and cherished by about 100 million people in over 100 countries and has received a plethora of honors.
Master Yi’s

Master Yi’s Tukong Martial Arts is rooted in over 1000 years of tradition. Tukong is a traditional style of martial arts, and they take pride in cultivating a family environment. Teaching in Austin since 1982, Master Yi’s philosophy is based on strength and power training, swords and weapons, Meditation and Tai Chi, Flexibility and Fitness.
April Rain School of Chinese Dance

April Rain School of Chinese Dance teaches a variety of Chinese dances including Chinese classical, Chinese Ballet, contemporary and mostly Chinese folk dances.
The beautiful Allyn Hoang, also known as the reigning Miss Asian American Texas, will be making appearances throughout the weekend.
Kiwi the Clown will be back with her beautiful face painting for a minimal fee.
Portable Adrenaline will be back again this year with their rock climbing wall – cost is $5 per person.
Jamaica Me Crazy will provide temporary airbrush tattoos – choose from over 300 designs for a minimal fee.
SAHELI is a nonprofit organization based in Austin, Texas, that provides assistance to Asian families dealing with domestic violence and abuse.
Taoist Tai Chi

The ancient Taoists were renowned for their study of the arts of health and longevity. Watch a demonstration featuring the gentle turning and stretching movements of this art associated with health and tranquility.
Hanayagi Dance Company

Instructor Mrs. Matsumoto is of Japanese origin and has been teaching Japanese dance in Texas since 1989. Her dance company has students ranging from 5 – 82 years old, and she enjoys teaching and introducing Japanese culture to communities by performing at a variety of festivals and events throughout Texas.
Austin Dance India is a dance academy and performing group that has been in Austin for 20 years. Anuradha Naimpally is the artistic director of this organization that offers classes for all ages and performances for many different settings.
Clowns Unite @ Circus is a non-profit, family friendly group that will share their circus arts and hula hooping tricks to anyone curious about it.
Wyld Styl - Funky, hip hop dance performance.
